What is the difference between free-market capitalism and democratic socialism? And which system is actually more fair and responsive to the needs of the people? Dinesh D’Souza has the answers.
This perhaps, stands as the most consequential event in American or even World history. Captain John Parker and 77 armed newly formed Militia men stood on Lexington Common on what revolutionary Samuel Adams proclaimed, "A glorious morning for America." It was April 19, 1775.
My Final Thoughts:
The events of that day were the natural progression for a people whose parents and grandparents cleared the land by hand to create the farms and villages the British ruled over. They endured assault by Native Indians, then the French, now their own countrymen.
The Declaration of Independence, presented to the King of England the following year stands as a witness to the affronts borne by the colonists. The suffering was too much for them to look past. The line had been drawn.
The men and woman who stood up to tyranny so many years ago did so for the sake of themselves and their children. Their actions stand as a beacon for all generations of Americans. We cannot allow that light to be extinguished. They must be Honored. It is our Duty. Without Honor our Nation cannot survive.
Look forward to my next article: The Siege of Boston and how the determination of a small group led by another great American made it a reality.
Your fellow Patriot,
John Leonard
The battle of Saratoga ended in an American victory when the British army surrendered at Saratoga. It was a major turning point in the American Revolutionary War and helped convince the French to recognize the United States of America as an independent nation and provide military support in the fight for independence. How hundreds of local town folk answered the call and changed the course of the Revolution.
My Final Thoughts:
The Herculean efforts of the patriots who worked day and night to block the passage south from Kenesborough created the time needed for the Continental Army to regroup and combine a force large enough to overwhelm what was left of Burgoyne’s Army on
the battle fields of Saratoga.
Without the efforts of these unknown Patriots, the outcome of the Revolution would well have been different. It is we, their Posterity, who are obligated to carry this unbroken burden of labor necessary to insure Freedom to the next generation of Americans.
Your fellow Patriot,
John Leonard
